Leslie Drapkin is a self taught illustrator born, raised, and educated in California. Aside from a remarkable time in New York to work in the art department of New York Magazine, Leslie has always considered San Francisco her home. By trade, she and her partner owned and operated several successful accessory and gift retail stores called Jest Jewels where they garnered many awards for creative content, inspired design, and community involvement. Here Leslie developed her passion for illustration and product design, honing her skills to include her love of dogs and the written word. She incorporated her drawings into window displays, murals, and products including stationary, gifts, apparel, and jewelry. The response to her whimsical, slightly philosophical dog illustrations was so good it sparked her decision to create Bernie Street Studios where she is pursuing her love of illustrations and writing. Her goal is to be a visual scribe, to be able to combine her mediums to playfully express her view of the world.
